Robbie and Dr. Stephen Prepas

 

Dr. Stephen Prepas has done volunteer eye surgery as a member of SEE (Surgical Eye Expeditions) since 1986. Surgical Eye Expeditions (SEE) International, Inc. is a non-profit humanitarian organization that provides medical, surgical and educational services by volunteer ophthalmic surgeons with restoring sight to disadvantaged blind individuals worldwide. Stephen and medical professionals like him will provide sight to 22,000 children and adults from 36 countries in 2004 alone.

 In the past 18 years, he has goes one or two times a year to Mexico, Borneo, Mongolia, Romania, Indonesia, Nepal, and Costa Rica. Most recently, he has concentrated on repeat trips to Namibia and Zimbabwe in southern Africa, and trips to various provinces in Viet Nam.

 

 

Robbie Prepas, RN, MN, CNM, JD

Robbie is a Certified Nurse Midwife/Ob-Gyn Nurse Practicitioner. She has been working as a Assistant Clinical Professor at Harbor-UCLA Medical School as well as an Instructor at Columbia University’s Master’s Degree Program in Pediatrics and Obstetrics since 1977. Her avocation, however, is helping pregnant women and their new babies have a successful birth experience in parts of the world with barriers to prenatal or gynecological care.

 She’s been an International Nurse Midwifery Consultant with UNICEF, UNESCO, SEE, International Relief Teams, CARE, Save the Children, AJWS, among others, for more than 14 years. As a result, Robbie has volunteered her time and talents in Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Nepal, Lithuania, Latvia, Togo, Ghana, Viet Nam, Peru, Russia, Namibia, and Afghanistan.
