Young Philanthropists
Leadership @ TALIT Nation

Young Philanthropists is a unique program that allows 9th – 12th graders to learn about the importance of giving Tzedakah through hands-on experience, decision making, discussions and field trips.  In addition, all participants earn 12 hours of community service for completing this 3-part program.

The precept of this program is Tzedakah, so each student is asked to donate $36. The fund is also supplemented by community contributions.  After on-site visits and learning about various agencies, the students are prepared to make informed philanthropic choices as to where they wish to donate the funds, and how much each charity will receive.  After the completion of this program’s first year, the Young Philanthropists donated $5,000 to Jewish Family Service, Heritage Pointe, Pups for Peace, Make a Wish Foundation, and the Blind Children’s Learning Center.

Through our ground-breaking leadership training, participants will become the next generation of Jewish leaders, role models and philanthropists.  Young Philanthropists is sponsored by the Orange County Jewish Community Foundation in partnership with the Bureau of Jewish Education.

The meeting dates for Young Philanthropists will be Sunday, November 6th, November 20th, and December 11h from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and is open to all Jewish 9th – 12th graders in our community.
